About Philip Dykes & Kerry McLeod
Who are Philip Dykes and Kerry McLeod?
Philip Dykes and Kerry McLeod are internationally respected evidential mediums, tutors, mentors, ministers and spiritual teachers.
With more than 25 years of experience each, they have taught and demonstrated mediumship across the UK, USA, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Their work is rooted in evidence, integrity, compassion and the responsible development of communication with the Spirit World.
They support students at all stages, from those who are completely new to those already demonstrating or working professionally.
What makes Phil and Kerry's teaching different?
They teach mediumship as a spiritual, personal and evidential process.
Their approach is not about performance, tricks or simply learning techniques. It is about helping students understand themselves, strengthen their relationship with Spirit, and develop mediumship that is clear, grounded, compassionate and meaningful.
Their teaching brings together evidential mediumship, personal development, spiritual understanding, mentoring, coaching and decades of experience working with students around the world.
Mediumship and Psychic Awareness
What is evidential mediumship?
Evidential mediumship is communication with Spirit that brings forward recognisable information about the person in Spirit.
This may include personality, memories, relationships, shared experiences, emotions, mannerisms, interests, or meaningful details from the person's life.
The purpose is not to give vague or general messages. The purpose is to help demonstrate the continued existence of the individual in Spirit, in a way that can be recognised and felt by the recipient.
What is the difference between a psychic and a medium?
Psychic awareness is often connected with reading a living person's energy, emotions, life circumstances, choices or current situation.
Mediumship is communication with the Spirit World. In mediumship, the focus is on bringing forward evidence of a person in Spirit, including their identity, personality, memories and connection with the recipient.
Both psychic and mediumistic awareness can be developed. A good foundation of psychic understanding helps you bring sensitivity, practice, self-awareness and ethical responsibility to your mediumship.
How do mediumship readings work?
In a mediumship reading, the medium connects with loved ones in the Spirit World. The spirit communicators impress information, feelings, memories and messages upon the medium's consciousness.
The medium conveys this evidence to the sitter through abilities such as clairvoyance (clear seeing), clairsentience (clear feeling) and clairaudience (clear hearing), aiming to provide evidence of the survival of consciousness and often bringing messages of comfort, love and inspiration.
Can a psychic or medium tell me my future?
A psychic can offer insight into potential outcomes based on your past, your current situation, and the habits and tendencies of your character. The future is not set in stone; it is influenced by your free will and choices.
Mediums focus on connecting with loved ones in Spirit rather than predicting specific events, though loved ones can offer insight into your path through their evidence. A good reader will empower you with information, not dictate your destiny.
Are psychics and mediums always accurate?
No psychic or medium can be 100% accurate, 100% of the time. We are human beings: impressions can be lost in translation, and many factors can influence the clarity of a medium's mind, the strength of the connection and the medium's understanding.
The goal is to provide enough verifiable evidence to demonstrate the continuation of life before a message is given. The training of the medium can make a big difference, so do your research; word of mouth often helps.
What if I don't understand something during a reading, or say "no"?
It's perfectly normal not to understand every piece of information straight away, or to say "no" to something that doesn't resonate. Sometimes the relevance becomes clear later.
A good medium will work with you to clarify, rephrase or explore the impression further, staying connected to the communicator and the evidence.
Developing Your Mediumship
Can anyone develop psychic or mediumistic abilities?
Everyone can develop their psychic and mediumistic awareness with the right teaching, practice and support.
Some people begin with strong sensitivity, intuition or spiritual awareness. Others begin with curiosity and very little experience. Development helps you understand how your own awareness works, how to recognise information, and how to build confidence in a grounded way.
Mediumship development is not about becoming someone else. It is about understanding your own natural sensitivity and learning how to work with it responsibly.
Is mediumship a gift or an ability?
Both. Mediumship is an ability that can be developed with practice and dedication. Sharing it is the gift to humanity.
What does "sitting in the power" mean?
Sitting in the power is a meditative practice where you quiet your mind and open yourself to the power of Spirit. It builds the foundation for all psychic and mediumistic work.
You can sit with us for free every Monday in our Sitting in the Power hour, or use our guided sitting recordings.
How do I tell the difference between my own mind and Spirit?
Spirit communication often feels like a subtle knowing, a distinct feeling, or clear images within. Your mind usually tries to analyse, work things out logically and guess.
Look for solid evidence you couldn't possibly know: facts, personalities and shared memories. Trust your feelings and impressions.
How long does it take to become a medium?
Mediumship development is a lifelong journey, not a destination. The time it takes to become a confident, evidential medium varies for each person, depending on their natural sensitivity, consistency of practice and dedication.
What are the most common challenges in mediumship development?
Common challenges include trusting subtle impressions, telling the difference between your own thoughts and spirit communication, self-doubt, managing your own emotions and grief, and keeping healthy boundaries. Patience, perseverance and good mentoring are key.
What if I feel stuck or unsure about my mediumship?
Feeling stuck is very common, and it does not mean you are failing.
Sometimes the next step is to understand yourself more deeply, and our Friday Personal Development class can help with self-awareness, confidence, emotional understanding and spiritual growth.
If you already have some mediumship experience and want to understand your connection with Spirit more clearly, the Wednesday Mediumship Mentoring Group may be the best next step. If you are unsure, a one-to-one session can help you choose the right direction.
Choosing the Right Class
I'm new to mediumship. Where should I start?
You do not need to have all the answers before you begin. Many people start because they feel sensitive, intuitive, spiritually curious, or drawn to understand their connection with Spirit.
Good places to start are our free Monday Sitting in the Power hour and our Wednesday Mediumship Mentoring Group, where beginners to advanced students are all welcome.
Our Start Here page sets out the options side by side.
I already have some experience. Which class is best for me?
If you have a little, some, or a lot of experience, the Wednesday Mediumship Mentoring Group is often the best place to continue developing. It supports students who want clearer evidence, stronger confidence, regular guidance, honest feedback and a deeper understanding of their own connection with Spirit.
If you are already demonstrating in front of others, Intermediate and Advanced training focus on demonstration, presentation and confidence.
How is Mentoring different from Intermediate and Advanced?
Intermediate and Advanced are for those practising demonstrating in front of live audiences. The Mentoring Group is for those building foundations and regular practice, with feedback, and is more suited to private readings.
Do you offer one-to-one mentoring?
Yes. One-to-one mentoring gives you personalised guidance with Philip or Kerry.
It can help if you feel stuck, are unsure which class to choose, want feedback on your mediumship, need support with confidence, or are preparing for public demonstration. Find out about one-to-one mentoring.
I'm not sure which step is right for me. Can you help?
Yes. Book a Development Review: a relaxed 30-minute Zoom conversation with Phil and Kerry about where you are now and which path would serve you best. It's available to all our students, whenever you feel ready to talk things through.
How Our Online Classes Work
Where do the classes take place?
Our classes are live online on Zoom, so you can join from anywhere in the world. Students join us from the UK, USA, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
What time are the classes?
Each course page shows the day and the time in UK, Eastern and Pacific time, and is updated for each new month. Most monthly courses run once a week for four weeks.
Are the classes recorded?
Most of our courses are recorded. After each class the recording is added to the members' area of our website, so you can catch up if you miss a session. Log in with the email address you booked with.
Each course page says how long its recordings are kept. The Mediumship & Psychic Practice class is not recorded, because it is breakout-room work.
Do I need my camera on?
Yes, it is better for the atmosphere and for everyone's confidence, but we know there are moments when you need some privacy.
How big are the groups?
Groups are kept small so everyone gets to practise and receive feedback. In Intermediate, for example, there is a maximum of 9 students, split into two groups working in separate rooms, each with a tutor.
What is included with a monthly course?
Monthly courses include extra support at no extra cost, such as the free Sitting in the Power hour and the Mediumship & Psychic Practice class. Each course page lists exactly what is included.
How do I book, and can I buy a gift card?
You can see every class and book online on our booking page. My Mediumship gift cards are available from the Gift Store in our menu, and can be used towards any class or session.
